James Ryan graduated from the Vesper George School of Art, Boston MA, a very prolific art school until its closure in 1983. Jim studied under very gifted teachers including Jack Callahan, Don Stone, Bill Flynn, and many others. Jim started his career as a commercial artist with Bradlees Discount Department Store Company as a fashion Illustrator. He also worked for MacKellar Art Studios in Boston. Later Jim joined Raytheon Company’s art department and worked on many diverse projects including murals, dioramas, and limited edition military prints, many of which are hanging in the Pentagon and military installations worldwide.
Jim’s fine art paintings are of seascapes and landscapes, and his primary medium is oil on canvas. Jim is the recipient of the Allied Artist of America’s Grumbacher Gold Medal. Jim is a prior President of the Lynnfield Art Guild.
