“My paintings and drawings have been described as expressionist realism. The materials I use to create are: oils, acrylics, dry and oil pastels and sometimes collage materials. I am fascinated with common household items that we take for granted. In my work I explore the humor, emotion and the relationships, (emulating human), between objects. The controlled lighting and stationary subject matter facilitate the rendering, allowing me to involve myself more directly in the emotional tension between the objects.”

“Painting is about process and I mourn when a painting is finished. I get lost in the moment, searching for that perfect brush stroke or that delicious color combination that leads to vivid illusion of reality. I work from life but I reinterpret the subject into a more personal response to color, form, pattern and light. Anthropomorphous shapes can be seen in my vacuum paintings where they appear to feel like an old married couple.”
