As far back as I can remember I have always been intrigued by the arts, even if it was a coloring book and a brand-new box of Crayolas. I started painting in the 1970’s. The Lynn public schools offered a drawing class and I thought it might be fun to try something new. A bit nervous on day one, but that soon changed as I learned the skills involved with drawing , both with pencil and pastels. My eyes were opened to the joy of creating on paper with marking tools.
Next I studied painting and embraced oil paints, my new favorite. I’ve played with different mediums over time and have settled into using mostly acrylic and water color. As far as the subject, still life is my favorite. The process begins with setting up objects to paint. I can work on a still life for weeks, always learning as I paint. Landscapes are another favorite subject, working from life as well as photos. Having lived in Lynn from day one, I’m grateful to both Lynn and Lynnfield. It’s in these two cities that I’ve had so many wonderful teachers who have both given me the tools and the inspiration to paint.
I’m a member of Lynnfield Art Guild and the Peabody Art Association. Also, Ive had the good fortune to have taken instruction from Paulette Langone, Pauline Bacon, Paul Goodridge and am now savoring classes with Steve Greco (acrylic) and Bill Deveny (water color).
